Schwerin, a city in northern Germany, is the smallest federal capital of Germany. In order to protect the beautiful scenery and natural resources, the city has no developed industry, and thus is nicknamed "the poorest place" by the local people.
坐落在德国北部的什未林市，是德国最小的联邦州首府。这里为了保护优美景致和天然资源而没有太发达的工业，被当地人戏称为“最不富裕的地儿”。
It is this seemingly insignificant city that makes its presence felt in many famous German cities such as Berlin, Munich, Heidelberg, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. Schwerin is one of the quietest and most holiday - friendly state capitals in Germany. Walking along the gravel road of the old city, you will find seven lakes and pass through a palace garden. And it only takes a few minutes to enter the forest, as if you were walking along a quiet path into the watercolor painting of a master.

On April 12, 2006, Schwerin became a sister city of Zhengzhou. Later, the then mayor of Schwerin led a delegation to attend the "Fourth China Henan International Investment & Trade Fair", during which he held talks with officers from Zhengzhou Municipal Bureau of Culutre, Radio, TV and Tourism, Zhengzhou Health Bureau, ZZICEC, Zhengzhou City Administration Bureau, Zhengzhou Science and Technology Bureau, Zhengzhou Environmental Protection Bureau, Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport and Zhengzhou Economic and Trade Commission, and signed some cooperation agreements and letters of intent.
2006 年4 月12 日，郑州市与什未林市结为友好城市。随后，什未林市市长诺贝尔特• 克劳仁率访团参加“第四届中国河南国际投资贸易洽谈会”，其间与郑州市旅游局、卫生局、会展中心、市政局、科技局、环保局、机场、经贸委等进行会谈，并签订部分合作协议和意向书。
In April 2007, the then mayor of Schwerin visited Zhengzhou again and participated in the Expo Central China 2007.

In May 2007, Linde Group, with its advanced business philosophy, mature management experience and good market performance, acquired Parchim International Airport located in Schwerin, Germany.

In June 2010, the then deputy mayor of Schwerin was invited to attend the "International Mayor's Forum on Tourism (IMFT 2010)" in Zhengzhou.

Founded in 1160, the city of Schwerin is a traditional cultural and tourist attraction in Germany. It lies between the two great cities of Hamburg and Berlin, near the Baltic Sea and across the sea from Denmark. Schwerin is the capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the "state of a thousand lakes" in Germany, with an area of 130.46 square kilometers, including 37.66 square kilometers of lakes and rivers.

Schwerin is surrounded by seven lakes which are set around like seven emeralds. Among them, the most famous one is Schwerin Lake, on the island of which sits the Schwerin Palace, one of the most important buildings in European history. The Schwerin Cathedral, after centuries of change, is the only medieval monument in the city.
什未林被湖水环抱着，七大湖泊像七块翡翠镶嵌在周围。其中最出名的是什未林湖，湖中小岛上坐落着什未林宫殿，这是欧洲历史上最重要的建筑之一。什未林的大教堂，历经数百年的风云变幻，是城中唯一的中世纪古迹。
Schwerin is known as the city of seven lakes, Florence in the north, the city of cathedral, or the city of palace. In fact, whatever it is called, when dusk falls, the fairy-tale palace and deep green woods are reflected in the lake, and cathedral bells ring, people always say that Schwerin is a city rich at heart.

German diplomat becomes Zhengzhou's "investment advisor"

Klaus Grutzmacher, the president of MCG in Germany, used to be a brilliant diplomat. He actively facilitated the exchange of visits between Zhengzhou and Schwerin in economy and trade, science and technology, education, etc., and played a key role in establishing international sister cities and carrying out friendly cooperation between the two cities.
德国MCG 公司总裁克劳斯• 格吕兹马赫(Klaus Grutzmacher) 曾是一位出色的外交官。他积极促成了郑州市与什未林市在经贸、科技、教育等方面的多次互访，在两市缔结国际友好城市、开展友好合作的过程中起到了关键的推动作用。
The figure of Grutzmacher can be seen everywhere in the process of deepening the friendship between the two cities, from sewage treatment project to international Dragon Boat Festival, from acquisition of Parchim International Airport by Linde Group to the mayor of Schwerin attending China Henan International Investment & Trade Fair.

It is particularly worth mentioning that at the beginning of the exchanges between Zhengzhou and Schwerin, Grutzmacher was over 50 years old. Each time he arrived at Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, he would walk steadily. Each time he was about to return to Germany, he would leave a warm smile to Zhengzhou.

In view of Grutzmacher's outstanding contribution to the exchanges between the two cities and the promotion of Zhengzhou's development, he was hired as a senior investment advisor in Zhengzhou. With his persistence and efforts, the bilateral relations have become a model of the exchanges between Zhengzhou and international sister cities for quite a long time.
